Geula
I Believe with perfect faith in the coming of Moshiach. Even though his arrival is delayed, I still await him daily.
Welcome to Geula
Every second that passes means that the Jewish people are one second closer to the arrival of Moshiach, who will herald the final redemption.
But what can you do to hasten his arrival? Learn about Moshiach, learn how the world will look when Moshiach comes, and anticipate and develop a yearning for his arrival.
Make the Most of Your Geulah Study
Study about Moshiach and redemption daily or weekly. You can study it in small, nugget-size lessons or through developed curriculums. It can be learned by yourself, or better, in a class with others. Just study it.
Reasons and benefits
The twelfth foundation of the Jewish faith is the messianic era, the belief and confirmation that Moshiach will come. Not to entertain te thought that he will be late, and if he is delayed, wait for him. —Maimonides, Commentary to Mishnah, Sanhedrin ch. 10
If the Jews are empty-handed and all they have is anticipation [for Moshiach’s arrival], they are worthy of redemption in the merit of that anticipation. — Yalkut Shimoni, Nach, 736
The “straight-forward path” (Derech HaYeshara) to bring about the revelation and coming of Moshiach is through learning Torah topics that discuss Moshiach and Redemption. — Sefer Hasichos, 5751 vol. 2, p. 497, 501
Practice of the sages
Rabbi Yishmael once violated the Sabbath in error. He wrote in his notebook, “I, Yishmael Ben Elisha, read and tilted the lamp on Shabbos. When the Temple will be rebuilt, I will bring a fat sin offering [as atonement].” —Shabbos 12b (Chidushei HaRan)
Rabbi Yirmiya passed away he asked to be buried in his white clothing, dressed in socks, wearing his shoes, and his walking stick placed in his hand, and lay him on his side, so that when Moshiach will come he will be ready. — Yerushalmi, Kesubot, 12:3
Rabbi Chanina Gaon would sharpen his nails so that he would be ready to clip a bird in the Temple. — Otzar Hageonim, Taanit, 17a
Rabbi Yisrael Meir Kagan, author of the Chafetz Chaim and the Mishnah Berurah, was famous for his anticipation of Moshiach. In the introduction to his renowned Chafetz Chaim, he writes: Since the destruction of the Temple, we await and pray for the arrival of Moshiach. Since slander and disrespect are two of the primary causes for the destruction, I will look to rectify this area [with this work].
