Chasidic story

The stories of the fathers are a lesson for their children.

Welcome to the Chasidic Story

Knowledge is not enough. A person needs to act. And there is no better way to communicate the application of Chasidic thought than through a real living picture. Hence the power of the Chasidic story.

Reading the stories of yesteryear, stories of Chasidic masters and/or their disciples, gives the reader not only a yearning but also a guide and inspiration on how the Chasidic lifestyle is observed.

Reasons and Benefits

In the Torah, the stories (Chumash Bereishis) come before the Jewish law. Rabbi Yisyoel of Ruzin (Igros Kodesh, Rayatz, vol. 6, p. 77)

The Alter Rebbe said: "When we heard Torah from the Mezricher Magid, that, we considered as oral Torah; when we heard a story, we treated it as written Torah." — Igros Kodesh, Rayatz, vol. 4, p. 65

A Chassidic idiom is, of course, important; a Chasidic story is crucial. Likkutei Diburim, vol. 3, p. 618
